Every working day, two construction workers take their own lives.

That’s not a statistic you’ll see on a safety board.

But it’s the reality Mindflow was created to change.

Launched by former England and Everton midfielder Trevor Steven, Mindflow is a new mental health charity focused entirely on the construction industry. Our aim is simple but urgent: to make mental wellbeing as essential to site culture as hard hats or PPE.

“There’s a silent crisis within the industry,” Trevor shared in a recent interview with Sky Sports News about the launch of Mindflow. “We’re not here to preach or teach about mental health – but to connect, to listen, and to open up spaces where real conversations can happen.”

With 87% of the workforce being male and 67% identifying as football fans, Trevor saw an opportunity to meet workers where they are – both literally and culturally.

For the last two years, he’s been visiting sites across the UK, using his football background to spark open conversations with workers who often struggle in silence.

This is about changing the industry from the inside out – one site, one conversation, one life at a time.

Help bring mental health to the heart of construction.
