At Summerhill Park in Liverpool, something powerful happened in August 2025.

Not in the concrete or steel — but in the way people talked, listened, and connected.

Mindflow was on-site with Persimmon Homes to deliver our latest Talk Football Talk Mental Health Match-Up session as part of our North West pilot.

The welcome was warm. The response we had was even warmer.

Leading the conversation was Jason McAteer, former Liverpool and Ireland footballer, who shared his story with openness and strength. In doing so, he gave everyone permission to drop their guard. To feel. To talk. Because when someone you respect stands up and says, “I’ve been there”, it makes it easier to say, “Me too.”

That’s the impact of a Mindflow Match-Up. We use football to break the ice, build trust and start conversations about mental health in places that need them most — the heart of UK construction. The feedback was clear: this matters.

A huge thank you to Karl Wiseman and the whole Persimmon Homes team for believing in this work and helping us make it happen.

What's coming next?

Mindflow is bringing Match-Ups to more sites across the UK — because we believe the most important safety tool isn’t a hard hat. It’s being able to say, “I’m not OK” — and be heard.
