Questions about joining the Mindflow Charter
The Mindflow Charter is a mental health standard for UK construction companies, developed with clinical and industry experts and researchers at the University of Warwick. It sets out 11 principles, from policy and leadership to support services. Companies self-assess against it, earn one to three stars, and join the public Charter Register.
Any construction company registered at Companies House, from a micro firm of one to nine people to a large contractor. The Mindflow Charter applies to a single registered company, so each company in a group registers separately. You'll need a work email address and someone who knows how your company supports its people.
About ten minutes. It covers 35 questions across ten sections, each answered as working towards, partially embedded or fully embedded. Your answers save as you go on the same device, so you can pick up where you left off. From first details to a live listing takes about 15 minutes in total.
Assess each practice based on your own employees' experience, not just what's written in the contract. If it's available on most of the sites where they work, treat it as fully embedded. If it's only available on some sites, mark it as partially embedded.
That's fine: the Mindflow Charter is about where you are now and where you're heading. You need at least one star to register, and your result includes a roadmap showing which practices to work on for the next star. Your rating is renewed every year, so it can grow as your practice does.
Your annual fee is set by your company's size and the star rating you earn, from £150 a year for a micro firm on one star. You'll see your exact fee when you finish the self-assessment, before you pay anything. Membership renews each year and you can cancel at any time.
Before you pay, you confirm five things: your answers are accurate, you commit to the Mindflow Charter's principles, you'll share Charter-related KPI data each year, you're happy to be listed on the Charter Register, and the University of Warwick may contact you about its research (you can opt out at any time).
Your company name, website, Companies House number, size band, star rating and the date your registration is valid until. This is the information clients, contractors and your own people can check. Your listing goes live as soon as your payment goes through, and stays on the Charter Register for the year.
