Mindflow Welcomes HMS as a Strategic Partner, Strengthening Mental Health Support Across Construction
Mindflow is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with HMS, part of the Torus Group, marking their official entry into Mindflow United, our growing philanthropic community committed to transforming mental health support across the construction industry.
As Torus Group’s in-house construction and maintenance contractor, HMS works closely with construction communities and shares Mindflow’s vision of an industry where mental well-being is prioritised as highly as physical safety. This partnership goes beyond membership, embedding meaningful action across HMS sites and networks.
As part of this collaboration, HMS will host a series of Match-Ups across their sites, bringing former professional footballers into construction environments to spark open, honest conversations around mental health. To mark the occasion, Chris Kirkland deliver a Mindflow Talk Football Talk Mental Health session at St Helen's Rugby Club, where CEO Trevor Steven handed over the number 8 shirt to, Managing Director John Barrow to mark the start of the partnership. These sessions are designed to connect workers with vital support resources while fostering a culture of trust, openness, and peer support on-site.
In addition, HMS has signed up to the Mindflow Mental Health Charter, committing to uphold consistent, industry-wide standards that ensure every site actively supports worker well-being and promotes early intervention.
Mindflow United brings together like-minded organisations and individuals who are committed to creating an open, supportive culture in construction, normalising mental health conversations, harnessing community connections, and challenging stigma.
John Barrow, Managing Director of HMS, said:
"At HMS, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We work in an industry that is built on strength, skill and resilience, but we also know that true strength is being able to speak openly, ask for help and look out for one another. Partnering with Mindflow is an important step in making sure mental health is treated with the same care and urgency as physical safety across our organisation. If this partnership helps even one person feel less alone, start a conversation, or reach out for support, then it will have made a real and lasting difference.”
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome HMS into a strategic partnership with Mindflow. Their values, ambition, and commitment to supporting people across the construction and housing sectors align perfectly with our mission. I had the pleasure of speaking at their event last year and saw first-hand their genuine passion for making a difference. Their commitment to delivering Match-Ups on-site and adopting the Mental Health Charter shows real leadership in action. With HMS on board, we are even stronger in our ability to drive meaningful, lasting change across the industry. We are incredibly grateful for their support.”
Trevor Steven, CEO of Mindflow
Through Mindflow United, industry leaders are uniting behind a common purpose: to drive lasting cultural change and ensure mental health is treated with the same importance as physical safety on every site.
